Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- Once a manuscript has been submitted to AJADA, an author should not submit the same to any other journal during the review process.
- Title is precise, self-explanatory and brief (not more than 25 words). The font size of the title should be New Times Roman 14, bold and centered.
- Keywords should be precisely picked from the manuscript and comprise of commonly used words. The limit is 8 words.
- The submission has not been previously published, or submitted to or is before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- The text is single-spaced, uses a 12-point font, employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses), and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. Tables should be in APA style.
- Information obtained from confidential sources must not be used without the written permission from the authors, organizations or funders of the work. Ethical considerations must be declared.
- Each manuscript must contain an abstract of no more than 300 words for all articles. An abstract should be concise, informative, self-explanatory and must be free from citation. It should be single spaced, font 11, New Times Roman
- We encourage authors with ORCID IDs to submit the details during the submission for ease of subsequent processing and profiling.
- AJADA subjects all the submissions received to a similarity check (plagiarism), the maximum acceptable threshold for publishing is 30%.
- The journal does not accept to review any material(s) that is artificially (AI) generated wholly or in part.
Research article
The word limit is 5000 words excluding abstracts, references, tables or figures and other annexes.
Review Article
These articles communicate a clear description of novel findings or ideas in the field of alcohol and drug abuse without covering detailed background information about the problem or intervention but rather give key pointers that other scholars can interrogate. The word limit is 5000 words excluding abstract, references, tables or figures.
Short communication
These articles communicate a clear description of novel findings or ideas in the field of alcohol and drug abuse without covering detailed background information about the problem or intervention but rather give key pointers that other scholars can interrogate. The word limit is 2500 words excluding abstract, references, tables or figures.
Policy briefs
These articles are concise summary of a particular issue, policy option or recommendation for best practices. The word limit is 2500 words excluding abstract, references, tables or figures and other annexes.
Editorial
These articles convey views on any theme relevant to the journal's concerns that contain no more than 1200 words excluding references.
Letters
Letters: Letters are written to convey any views or perspectives on current research interests or problems. The word limit is 1200 words excluding references. There should be no figures and tables in this type of manuscript.

This is an open access journal with authors retaining copyrights for their manuscripts. Manuscripts are reusable in other forms and media with proper citation of the original paper.
